North Franklin Waterworks,Inc.
HISTORY
North Franklin Water Works, Inc. (PWS LA1041003) is a member owned, non-profit corporation, that was organized about April, 1970 to provide potable drinking water to customers in Franklin and Madison parishes, who had no source of community drinking water. Where the system is located, the farmland is very rich and productive, however, good quality drinking water is hard to find.
The initial system design was to service approximately 700 customers. Steady growth brought the customers to about 1300 in 1992. An expansion and upgrade to the system took place in 1992, which included adding distribution lines, storage facilities, and improving production. Since that time, additional infrastructure has been built and put into service including a 200,000 gallon elevated tank on hwy 577, and a new well field with pumping station at the Chapman road site. Currently, the system is serving approximately 2700 customers, which means the customer base has more than doubled in size again.
Financing has been secured, and plans have been drawn, for new upgrades to the system, which will include replacing/upsizing old main lines that are prone to leaks, installing new water meters with automated reading system, refurbishing our elevated tanks, and construction of a water filtration plant at the Chapman road site.
OUR MISSION
The production and delivery of an ample quantity of safe drinking water, at adequate pressure, with minimal interruption, as economically as possible.

We have scheduled a flush for a section of our main water line, for the afternoon of 11-17-23. This section is from Chapman rd pump station, to the elevated tank on Hwy 577. We will isolate this section from the rest of the system, and flush it to waste at maximum velocity. This should remove iron and manganese from where it has settled inside of pipe. Most customers will not notice any change in service while we are flushing. Some may have slightly less water pressure. Those customers served directly from this section, will get special instructions. If you get dirty water from this event, let us know so we can flush your area.
